A Man’s Image clothing store located on Passyunk Avenue.
Passyunk Square store, A Man’s Image, located at 1709 E. Passyunk Avenue, is relocating and plans to find a new tenant to occupy the 4,400 square ft. space. This corner property is a prime location and could likely become the next new restaurant or entertainment spot on Passyunk Avenue.
This corner has been the home to A Man’s Image since 1980 but the owner, 74-year-old Abe Mandel, now has plans to hand the business down at a new location.
The intersection of 12th and Passyunk is undergoing a change with adjacent corner property, 1648 E. Passyunk Ave., opening new restaurant Bing Bing Dim Sum. The Interior Concepts building is no longer on the market but little by little this Passyunk Avenue corner will be completely redeveloped. It is exciting to see how far this area has come and how much the future still holds. As for right now, we will wait and see.

Plans for a Queen Village hotel photo courtesy of Precision Realty Group.
Typically in large cities like Philadelphia, hotels are primarily located in Center City and close proximity to major tourist attractions. It is not too often that we hear of a local neighborhood hotel.
By the end of summer this year, Queen Village will be the home to a 7,000 square foot boutique hotel composed of thirty rooms. According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, this new neighborhood addition is planned for location on 5th Street between Bainbridge and Kater Streets. Zaken Realty Trust purchased the properties, which is currently composed of thirteen addresses along 5th Street.
This is an awesome plan and will provide out-of-town visitors with the opportunity to stay in the heart of a popular Philly neighborhood.

Philadelphia Magazine reported on a proposal brought forth at the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association Zoning Committee on January 27. Auto dealer Gene DiSimone, developer Michael Mattioni and ISA Studio Architects proposed to the committee possible plans of a waterfront auto showroom to be located on Delaware and Fairmount Avenues. Phillymag.com reported that the plans include an eight-story building with a cafe, apartments and an auto showroom.
New York offers a similar attraction at the Mercedes House in Manhattan. It would be awesome to see a proposal like this to go through and continue Philadelphia’s Delaware Avenue Waterfront development.
