Passyunk Square store, A Man’s Image, located at 1709 E. Passyunk Avenue, is relocating and plans to find a new tenant to occupy the 4,400 square ft. space. This corner property is a prime location and could likely become the next new restaurant or entertainment spot on Passyunk Avenue.
This corner has been the home to A Man’s Image since 1980 but the owner, 74-year-old Abe Mandel, now has plans to hand the business down at a new location.
The intersection of 12th and Passyunk is undergoing a change with adjacent corner property, 1648 E. Passyunk Ave., opening new restaurant Bing Bing Dim Sum. The Interior Concepts building is no longer on the market but little by little this Passyunk Avenue corner will be completely redeveloped. It is exciting to see how far this area has come and how much the future still holds. As for right now, we will wait and see.
New construction in Fairmount has begun with the development of a 10 unit apartment complex located at 1434-36 Poplar Street. This project is only blocks away from the North Street Estates new construction project in Fairmount, which will consist of 12 new townhouses with parking.
Expected completion is August 2015. The units inside of 1434 Poplar Street will be available for rent while the 1436 Poplar Street units will be available for sale. More details to come as the project progresses. This project contributes to the development growth in the Fairmount neighborhood. Over the years, Fairmount has become a poplar North Broad Street neighborhood with new housing developments, restaurants and much more.

Earlier this week on 3rd and Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia’s Old City neighborhood, a ceremony took place in honor of breaking ground for the Museum of the American Revolution. Opening in 2016, the new Museum set to grace Old City will feature artifacts and interactive exhibits of Revolutionary War history.
At the ceremonial ground breaking yesterday, over 300 people were in attendance along with United States Senator Pat Toomey, United States Senator Bob Casey, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, the Museum’s Founding Chairman H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest as well as other politicians and local dignitaries.
Exhibit design firm, MFM Design, has constructed the overall concept and design of the Museum. The interactive exhibits will include real life accounts and personal stories of laborers, farmers and soldiers during that time.
According to the Museum of the American Revolution website, the building will consist of 32,000 square feet of space, which will also include two theaters along with the exhibits.
In April of this year, the design and architectural concepts were approved for the $150 million Museum.
In late 2016, the new Museum will join the other historical treasures of Old City including the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross House, Independence Hall and many other historic sites.
Over the course of the spring and summer months, construction crews have been working on the early phases of demolition. Since the intersection of 3rd and Market Streets is busy with both pedestrian and automobile traffic, the construction phases and eventual finished product of the new Museum will not go unnoticed.

Palladino’s Steakhouse, formerly located at Harrah’s Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, has relocated to its new home on Passyunk Avenue in Philadelphia.
Located at 1934 E. Passyunk Ave., right off of the intersection at Broad Street and Passyunk Avenue, Palladino’s is expected to open at some point in November. According to the restaurant’s website, Chef Luke Palladino will bring his top-notch Italian cuisine featuring lunch, dinner and late-night bar items with indoor and outdoor seating.
The website also notes that convenient parking will be available but does not specify as to where. The Passyunk Square area is typically busy with traffic and parking is usually difficult. If a close-by parking lot is available for Palladino’s diners that would definitely be a plus!
Luke Palladino owns two other restaurants in New Jersey. The Passyunk Post reported that the steakhouse will feature 80 seats with specialized cocktail and wine lists as well as 40 outdoor seats.
In other restaurant news, The Insider reported Brigantessa will also soon join the Passyunk Avenue restaurant district featuring its Southern Italian cuisine. The owners of Le Virtu, located at 1927 E. Passyunk Avenue, will open Brigantessa at 1520 E. Passyunk Ave, the former location of Karina’s. Over the past few months, the building was completely rehabbed for the new bar-restaurant’s opening. Brigantessa is expected to open within the next few days.

There’s not much change that took place this week in the market or interest rates. The interest rates remain at the lowest levels of the year. We have hung around this low point for about two weeks so we will have to be careful. The moment a reversal takes place the rates could take a quick jump. It is often that rates rise much quicker than they move lower. What we’re seeing now is a great example; it’s taken rates weeks to get to this low point and in the matter of one bad day they could move .125% – .25% higher.
