Although it is the last official weekend of summer, Spruce Street Harbor Park is here to stay until September 28th.
According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the popularity of the waterfront’s new pop-up attraction led to the extension. The Park was initially due to close at the end of Labor Day weekend. Mayor Nutter’s office reached out to the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation and requested the extension. The DRWC funds the operations of the park.
Spruce Street Harbor Park has become a major waterfront attraction since its opening at the beginning of the summer. The pop-up attraction features a hammock garden, boardwalk, urban beach, fountains and food and drink concessions.
