On Monday, Mayor Michael Nutter and City Council President Darrell Clarke announced the City’s plan to renovate LOVE Park located at 1599 John F. Kennedy Blvd. Both the mayor and council president have agreed to work together on the development process.
The plans to revitalize LOVE Park are very similar to plans used for park developments in New York City and London. The iconic LOVE statue by Robert Indiana will go untouched as the surrounding area will be revitalized with green space and concessions. With a parking garage already located below LOVE Park, this will be a great feature to draw more visitors to Center City. Overall, the project could take a year and a half for completion but the end result will be worth it.
It will be exciting to see the future of Center City Philadelphia with the approaching completion of Dilworth Plaza and the beginning renovation of LOVE Park.
